Ryan Smith is a veteran framing carpenter with over 25 years’ experience in the field. He has framed hundreds of custom homes with very complex roof systems. He specializes in the art of roof cutting and stacking. Ryan has developed a system allowing him to precut entire roof systems before the walls are even built. His techniques and approach have been featured in publications such as Fine Homebuilding, as well as at JLC Live, where he teaches every March in Rhode Island. He has also filmed courses with M.T. Copeland. Ryan continues to teach his techniques and approach to framers around the world. He has a large Instagram following where he shares tips and tricks weekly, as well as sharing his knowledge at trade shows around the world. Ryan spends his days cutting and shipping roof systems from their shop in western NY (Buffalo). Roof Cutters Inc. is keeping craft alive, providing hand-cut roof packages to framing crews around the country.
