About this Craftsperson

Steve Hamilton, one of Virginia’s native sons, is responsible for building many of the most magnificent pieces of our generation. He has participated in the building, finishing, and restoration of furniture found in some of the most prestigious private collections in the country. His work can be seen at Colonial Williamsburg, Carlyle House, Mount Vernon, the White House, and the U.S. Park Service, to name a few. He apprenticed with Mack S. Headley, Sr., and has been a master builder with Mack S. Headley and Sons for over 30 years. During that time, Steve has taught building, restoration, and finishing of fine furniture to four apprentices. He was featured in The Difference Makers, published by Lost Art Press.
