SHARON DOUGHTIE has been involved in many artistic pursuits throughout her life and it has been her joy to work with wood for over twenty years. She has been a full-time turner since 1998 and creates from her studio in Kailua, Hawaii using mostly the beautiful and abundant woods available in her home town. Nature, culture, connections and communication are her inspirations. Her work is in many private collections and is represented in several major museums, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Peabody Essex Museum, the Smithsonian Museum of American Art and the Honolulu Museum of Art. She has been a featured demonstrator at the AAW symposium. Sharon has taught at several crafts schools and demonstrated at woodturning clubs around the United States and internationally, including at the New Zealand Symposium, the AFTAB symposium in France and at Turnfest in Australia.
