Janine Wang

About this Craftsperson

Janine Wang discovered woodworking while studying to become an architect, and once she got her hands on the materials, she couldn’t go back to drafting at the desk or computer again Today she teaches woodworking, turning, and occasionally basketry full-time, helping to spread the joy and empowerment of building the environment we live in, one object at a time. Janine recently relocated to Corvallis, OR, and now works as an assistant professor of teaching—teaching art and design courses within the Wood Science and Engineering Department at Oregon State University. She is originally from the East Coast and holds a BArch from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and an MA in furniture design from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is a member of the AAW, has exhibited widely, and done residencies at craft institutions including the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, Arrowmont School of Craft, and the Museum for Art in Wood.
