Gary Rogowski
About this Craftsperson
Gary Rogowski is a furniture maker, teacher, and author. He is currently in treatment for his wood-hoarding habit and for buying cool-looking tools. For 25 years, he designed and built furniture in Portland, OR, for clients, galleries, and public commissions. In 1991, he won the Oregon Arts Commission Fellowship in Crafts. In 1997, he founded the Northwest Woodworking Studio, a School for Woodworkers. It now hosts students online with a two-year Mastery Program as well as the Setting Up Shop video series. Gary was a contributing editor for Fine Woodworking magazine for fourteen years and the author of numerous articles and videos, and The Complete Illustrated Guide to Joinery (Taunton Press, 2002). He is also the author of Handmade: Creative Focus in the Age of Distraction (Linden Press, 2017). His podcast, Splinters, is a practical and amusing look at time spent at the bench.
