About this Class

Make this beautiful Alaska quilt by Edyta Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts. This stunning quilt uses geometric shapes and color placement to achieve its wonderful primary and secondary patterns. But there’s more to this workshop than meets the eye. This workshop is not just about making a beautiful quilt; it’s also about making the right color selections, where and how to place colors to bring the pattern to life. Toni will collaborate with students on both. Toni will also give participants the confidence to throw away the templates that come with this pattern. She will do this by teaching precision techniques to accurately cut and piece the angled wedge shapes found in this pattern. She will break down the construction of this project to make it simple. Plus, the workshop is structured so that each day builds off the previous day. By day three, students will find they are mastering accurate and flat 8-point wedge stars to include in their quilt. Best yet, the skills and techniques taught in this class are reusable and will become part of your quilting toolkit. Don’t let the complexities of the Alaska quilt be intimidating, Toni will be with you every step and stitch along the way. She will help students get and stay organized throughout the process to achieve success. All you need is a sewing machine, your choice of fabrics, and a solid ¼” stitch! Additional supplies may be purchased from Toni for an additional fee, if necessary.
