This weekend course focuses on using a variety of hand tools to shape molten glass into small- to medium-sized sculptures. Students begin with basic drawings and then bring their ideas to life in glass. The class emphasizes figurative, animal, and nature-inspired forms while highlighting proper timing, heating, and tool use to maximize efficiency during the sculpting process. Participants will work in two-person teams, practicing good shop etiquette and communication to achieve their goals at the bench. Simple glass coloring techniques will also be introduced to accent and enhance the finished sculptures. This course is designed for those with prior glassblowing experience. Instructor Nic recommends that participants complete one of the school’s previous weeklong or weekend classes to be best prepared for this workshop.
