Workshop Description

Learn to build a contemporary side table that looks complex but is quite straightforward once you know its secrets. The base is assembled using five mortise and tenon joints, so it is as sturdy as it is attractive. Tim will show students how to use files, rasps, and scrapers to create the sculptural shape for the feet. Students who did not attend the cracked ice weekend can make the cracked ice top during this week. For those who attended the weekend class, Tim will show them how to make a tabletop using his unique approach to veneering onto solid wood. This technique allows students to use a decorative surface veneer over solid wood, allowing them to profile the edge as solid wood. If you took the cracked ice workshop over the weekend, then this table base complements the tabletop beautifully.
