Workshop Description

Discover the fascinating world of Basket Illusion, a woodturning technique that combines precision turning with artistic embellishment to create the look of woven baskets on wood surfaces. In this hands-on class, students will learn how to design, build, and turn beautiful, segmented forms, then apply embellishment techniques that create the intricate illusion of a woven pattern. Learning techniques such as beading, indexing, burning, and wood dyeing, students will bring their turned piece to life with striking geometric designs inspired by Art Deco, Native American, and traditional basketry patterns. If fine detail and precision are exciting to you, you will not want to miss this weeklong class.
