Workshop Description
Needle felting is the art of sculpting wool with a barbed needle to create three-dimensional forms. In this weeklong class, Teresa Perleberg will guide students step-by-step through the process of turning natural wool into finished sculptures. Beginning with simple projects, participants will build skills each day, moving toward more advanced techniques and completed pieces by the end of the week. Teresa raises her own flock of sheep in North Dakota, and the wool used in this class comes directly from her animals, connecting students to the fiber from farm to finished sculpture. Her teaching style is known for being supportive, patient, and encouraging—making the learning process enjoyable for absolute beginners and experienced felters alike. Students will discover how to create sturdy, solid sculptures that hold their shape, bring personality to each piece, use the right needles at the right time, apply shortcuts that save effort, and refine projects to a smooth, finished look. By completing several projects throughout the week, participants will gain both confidence and practical techniques to carry forward in their own felting practice.
