Workshop Description
In this hands-on Greene & Greene Style Humidor/Keepsake Box class, John will guide students to craft a stunning heirloom-quality box. Participants will follow the iconic Greene & Greene aesthetic, learning to create precise box joints and the signature pillowed square peg and spline accents that define this timeless style. John will share information with students on selecting and cutting 8/4 lumber for seamless grain matching prior to class so valuable class time can be devoted to building.
Students will learn a burnishing technique for the protruding joint ends for a refined finish, as well as mortising and installing the distinctive square pegs. Additionally, students will explore lining options, whether choosing Spanish cedar for a functional humidor or luxurious pig suede or cloth for a keepsake box-ensuring a professional and personalized result. By the end, students will have learned the techniques and steps needed to confidently finish their humidor/keepsake box at home.
