This two-day workshop invites participants to create an elegant burl veneered jewelry box accented with American holly corner banding, four turned feet, and a single pull. Working step by step, students will master essential veneering techniques such as matching grain, cutting, gluing, pressing, trimming, and sanding veneer onto plywood. The class begins with veneering both the interior and exterior surfaces of the box simultaneously, ensuring perfect alignment and a seamless grain flow. Students will then miter the corners with precision using a V-tool router bit, craft custom corner banding, and apply walnut burl veneer to the inside edges for a unified, refined finish. To complete the project, Smart Hinge side-rail hinges will be installed, and the corner banding will be smoothed with a finely sharpened cabinet scraper. Inside, participants will construct lap-joint dividers to add strength and functionality. The box is brought to life with final sanding and an oil finish, resulting in a polished piece that combines craftsmanship, beauty, and durability.
