Workshop Description
Every college student knows that a desk can be as simple as a door slab over concrete blocks, but most of us are looking for a little more function and beauty when it comes to a desk. Often, store-bought desk plans are so detailed that they would eat up at least a month’s worth of nights and weekends to build. Here is some good news: thanks to the speed of pocket hole joinery and repetitive cutting techniques, it’s possible to build a beautiful and functional desk in a one-week class. Gary will start the week with a discussion of desk design. He will then show students the value of making and using story sticks to help organize and execute consistent cuts. Students will use pocket screws to assemble most of the desk, which are durable and fast. Trim and moldings will be cut during the week to give a custom look to your desk. Once the desk is finished, it will rival any desk available at any office furniture store.
