Workshop Description
Ovals are an intriguing shape, but they can be hard to get the proportions right. In this class, students can make the coffee table in the photo (30” x 46” x 16”H) or make one to their own size requirements. Students can then change the purpose and create an oval end table or hall table, even a dining table. Learn how to lay out and cut ovals by hand, use a shop-made router, or even with a purchased router jig. The smooth arcs on the top are done with a shop-made bandsaw jig. The ebonized base for the coffee table was stack laminated, but there are other base design options available.
