Workshop Description

In this first-time class, students will veneer a casting of their own hand. Veneer is typically pressed flat or on a single-axis curve, but what if you want to veneer a curved bullnosed table edge, or harder yet, a radiused OG profile, a sphere, or turned object? Impossible? Not with Scott Grove as the instructor! Learn to veneer your hand and practice applying these skills to other in-class projects. Scott is a pioneer in compound veneering: he’s veneered a female torso, a bowling ball, and even a working light bulb. In this class, he will share his 35 years of veneering tips and tricks with this rare, one-of-a-kind class. For beginners and advanced woodworkers who want to push their limit in veneering, students will make a mold and cast their own hand and veneer it using a variety of techniques, including hand forming, vacuum bagging, and compression molds. After this class, students will be able to veneer almost any form imaginable.
