Throughout the week, students will learn how to apply powder coating to flat and dimensional forms using stencils, masking, and gradient layering. Janiga will discuss cold connections like rivets and wire joins and use embossing, piercing, and hydraulic die forming to shape dynamic elements. Additional techniques such as rolling mill textures, Prismacolor detailing, and surface distressing will push one’s work even further. Daily creative prompts like color challenges and collaborative swaps encourage exploration and help generate a playful library of samples and components. Whether you’re new to metal or looking to expand your color vocabulary, this workshop is a space for experimentation and skill-building.
