Take your CNC experience to the next level with a week dedicated to CNC box making. In this project-driven class, students will have the opportunity to customize and build several unique boxes using the CNC-including a spring box, book box, textured box, wedge tenon box, one-board rustic box, illuminated lantern box, and peg boxes-while learning and practicing intermediate and advanced techniques in CNC machine setup, tooling, and design. Along the way, students will discover how to combine CNC machining with traditional woodworking methods to create a variety of personalized box designs. Emphasis will be placed on machine setup, jig construction, and toolpath strategies using Vectric VCarve software. Students will also explore joinery options, decorative elements, and design personalization, gaining the confidence to create both simple and highly detailed boxes on their own CNC machines. This class is recommended for woodworkers with prior experience in CNC using Vectric VCarve or Aspire software. (Attending Randy’s “Intro to CNC Woodworking” is helpful, although not required). By the end of the week, each student will complete multiple boxes and take home a library of techniques they can apply to future projects.
