Workshop Description

This beginning carving class will dive deep into designing and carving several different realistic roses and lilies in both low and high relief. Mary will start with the basics of traditional carving using long-handled gouges, and each lesson will help build students’ carving skills. During the week, there will be time to discover the nuances of overlapping petals, subtle shapes, and curves in each design. Mary will then demonstrate how to create the illusion of depth in shallow relief carvings. This class is for any skill level.
