Workshop Description

Take your cabinetmaking skills to the next level by building a fully featured base cabinet measuring 16-½” x 20-¾” x 32-¼”. This project incorporates a range of advanced techniques, giving students the chance to practice professional construction methods while creating a high-quality piece for your shop or home. The cabinet features Euro-style construction, a raised panel door with Euro hinges, inset doors and drawers, side-mount drawer slides, a half-blind dovetail drawer box, a butcher block top, and a toe kick. Built from melamine and skinned with hardwood plywood, the cabinet also includes banded exposed edges, router-cut adjustable shelf holes, and precision joinery with dadoes and rabbets. Students will learn how to complete edge-to-edge glue ups for raised panels, face-to-face glue ups for the butcher block top, and how to achieve the perfect gap for inset doors and drawers; a detail that requires patience, skill, and the right tricks of the trade. This class is designed for experienced woodworkers. Students should have completed “The Art and Craft of Cabinetmaking” with George or possess equivalent cabinetmaking experience.
