Workshop Description
In this class, students will explore a range of techniques for hollowing vessels, beginning with shallow open forms and progressing to deeper pieces, ultimately creating hollow forms with small openings. Participants will turn in reverse, hollow using a bowl gouge, work with a curved-neck hollowing tool, and use a standard scraper. A key technique taught in this workshop involves removing the top of the vessel to make hollowing the interior more accessible, then reattaching it with careful grain alignment and a discreet shoulder to conceal the joint.
