Workshop Description

This weeklong course welcomes students of all experience levels, though a foundation in basic pen making is recommended. Working with a variety of materials-including exotic and stabilized woods, biologicals, acrylics, and laser-cut pen kits-students expand their skills through a series of advanced techniques and demonstrations. Participants explore segmenting methods, learn how to clear cast acrylic pen blanks without special equipment, and observe Alumilite casting using a pressure pot. Demonstrations also cover stabilizing pen blanks, while troubleshooting sessions address common challenges that arise during the process. Throughout the week, emphasis is placed on achieving an exceptional fit and finish using CA glue. Once their pens are complete, students gain insights into effective marketing and display strategies, providing the tools to confidently share and sell their one-of-a-kind creations.
