Workshop Description
Carving with Classical Style is a class open to everyone-whether you’re a total beginner or you’ve been carving for years. If you’re new and want to try it out, or if you’re an experienced “MASTER” and looking to improve your skills, this course will help you gain a level up. The week will begin with hands-on carving, where Alexander will teach students how to use the tools by hand with a focus on classic methods that have worked for ages. During the week, Alexander will demonstrate how to sharpen your tools, which he calls (заточка на стероидах) “sharpening on steroids,” a method he uses every day to get super sharp tools-something beginners and Masters will love. Alexander says, “You don’t want to struggle with a dull chisel unless you want to.” Discussions will include picking the right tools, handling tricky wood texture, and clamping your work safely without damaging it. By the end of the week, students will have carved a very fancy project, no matter their starting level. Alexander will show how to tackle carving projects in a way that’s smart, safe, and-most of all-fun. When you show your finished piece to your family and friends, they’ll be very proud of you. You’ll get to say, “Yeah, I made that.”
