Workshop Description
This intensive stained glass workshop moves beyond traditional pattern-following to emphasize personal design development and professional-level techniques. Students will learn to access their own creative vision while practicing both lead came and copper foil methods used in contemporary studio practice. The class begins with an exploration of design principles specific to stained glass, interspersed with examples of inventive historical work that challenge conventional approaches. Students are encouraged to develop their own designs, with individualized guidance to help realize their artistic vision. For those less comfortable creating original designs, there will be several design options that students can select based on their skill level. Students will complete two projects: one lead came panel and one copper foil piece, both based on their own designs. The emphasis is on working through the creative uncertainty of approaching something new, with the goal of finishing challenging, personally meaningful work rather than simply mastering isolated skills.
