The MASW Master’s Program is the most recognizable and credible woodworking certificate program in America. To date, more than 500 people have completed the program, an incredible achievement!
MASW is not a project school, it’s a technique school. With our diverse lineup of workshops, you can build a personalized curriculum from mainstream topics taught by the finest craftspeople of modern times. Classes are balanced throughout the year to fit your busy lifestyle. Simply choose the dates, instructors, and subjects that best match your goals.
There is no time limit—you can work at your own pace and design a path that works for you.
RECOMMENDED ORDER FOR THE MASTERS
It is recommended that students begin with either Joinery or Handskills as one of their first two workshops. Design or Finishing should follow as the third and fourth choices. From there, students may select from a variety of technique workshops such as Turning, Carving, Veneering/Marquetry, Electives, or Chair Making. The final workshop should be the Apprenticeship Class. This sequence provides the strongest foundation in woodworking, with each class building on the skills developed in the previous one.
(Please note: classes taken at other schools are not transferable.)
These 19 Masters, representing 10 different states, have taken a combined total of more than 300 classes at MASW. I’ve had the privilege of watching each of them grow and mature into confident woodworkers. Along the way, we’ve become good friends, and my life has been enriched by knowing them. I look forward to welcoming them back in the future—perhaps even someday as teachers. — Marc
