Heather Marusiak
About this Craftsperson
Heather Marusiak cultivated a sense of fine craft at a young age as the daughter of a cabinetmaker and a weaver, developing hand skills and exploring her creativity in a variety of media, with a special affinity for wood. With undergraduate and graduate degrees in art education, she has had the opportunity to teach art at all levels across several states and abroad. Once exposed to the craft of woodturning, Heather began to explore ways she could use the lathe in combination with other material techniques to develop her artistic voice. Inspired by the ancient and ever-evolving landscape, she combines familiar forms, textures, and colors in expressive ways. Heather has been invited to exhibit and demonstrate at numerous symposia, with her work published in numerous magazines. She has received the American Association of Woodturners’ POP Award for Excellence (2023), the POP Artist Showcase (2024), and AAW’s People’s Choice Award (2025).
