In woodworking, like in everyday life, there is no one “right” way. There are many ways to accomplish the same task, and that is what this class is all about. Cutting dovetails entirely by hand can be intimidating. Bob will start with the basics of cutting accurate joinery and practicing cutting “five minute” dovetails. But this class is much more than just cutting dovetails by hand. By utilizing the strengths of various machines, students will learn several ways to make “handcut” dovetails that will require little to no paring! It’s great to see the difference between the first dovetail students cut on Saturday and the last dovetail they make Sunday afternoon! Router dovetail jigs like the Porter Cable or Leigh jig will NOT be a part of this class, Bob has no idea how to use those tools!
