Description

This hands-on weekend class is a great introduction to flux core wire MIG welding. This type of welding is the easiest and least expensive form of welding and a perfect place to start. Class discussions and demonstrations will include: understanding the material and equipment, safety, material preparation and how to cut metal, types of welds, how to clean up welds, problem solving, and structural/aesthetic considerations. Students will have a chance to practice cutting and welding mild steel sheets and bar stock, and may choose to do so in the context of making a small sculpture. Whether the goal is to learn how to fix items or design and execute sculptural work and structural components for woodworking, this will be a class not to miss.
