Stringing has a rich history in both urban and rural forms, especially during the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. Craftsmen combined arcs and straight lines to create often elaborate patterns that adorned all forms of furniture. Those designs, however, were subject to the constraints of symmetry and geometric fundamentals. This is NOT that class! During this workshop those techniques fall to the side as students explore all new techniques and forms limited only by the imagination. Irregular curves, tapered lines, pictorial representations will all be part of this unique class. The first day, participants will follow a series of guided exercises to gain an understanding of the basic techniques. On the second day students, will kick around ideas and execute a unique panel of their own design.
