Gabriel’s signature pieces involve high-elevation skyscapes with very little earth. In this class, students will learn Gabriel’s techniques, beginning with a large brush to blend the atmosphere before building puffy, dramatic clouds. He will teach them how to view clouds, how to see light, and how to create depth. The inexperienced painter will also be shown how to swap structure for instinct, (using finger painting, if necessary) to create a cloud painting in which viewers can get lost. Once paintings are complete, everyone will learn how to finish, hang, and photograph their artwork for reproduction.
