More Information on this Workshop

Make your own Squire Boot in a fun and fast paced class taught by Molly Grant of the Cordwainer Shop. Students choose from an array of colors to create their own individual leather boots and will learn how to skive (thin edges), fold and glue their uppers together creating a fully leather lined boot upper that is then hand sewn to leather soles. Students will then last and burnish the sole edges before finishing their boots with a hand inscribed sock lining. During this fun and interesting shoemaking class, students will be taught the basics of pattern making, how to lay the leather properly on a leather skin, basic sewing on an antique shoe sewing machine, hand sewing, as well as instruction on antique leather equipment, lasting and the finishing details that make their Squire Boot a true Cordwainer Shoe!
