$330 tuition, $25 material fee
*Shaping, sharpening and honing the skew chisel
*Exercises covering at least eight different cuts with the skew
*Unique techniques for chucking small work
*Make a variety of projects using only a skew chisel
*Overcome your fear of this versatile tool
The skew chisel is certainly one of the most challenging tools in woodturning (and perhaps in all of woodworking as hand tools go!). Alan will take students through the shaping, refining, sharpening, and honing of this versatile tool. Participants will then be shown and given the chance to practice at least eight different cuts as used in spindle turning with a skew chisel. From there, everyone will be guided through a series of projects that get progressively more difficult—and using only skew chisels. Specific projects include doorstops, eggs, spinning tops and tool handles. This class is open to anyone interested in developing his or her skill with the skew. Alan is known internationally as the “Son of Skew.”
There is an annual, nonrefundable registration fee of $45.
This registration fee is not a part of the class fee and is not deducted from the final balance due. This is the financial binding that locks you into the class and starts the registration process. This fee does not apply to students who only take one single day workshop.
