All students will not be doing the same type of vessel; instead they will be encouraged to attempt a variety of techniques. Malcolm will teach much more than just the basics of this fascinating art form. Topics will include complex “feature-ring” construction, portholes, segmented spheres, ribbons, and advanced segmented sculpture. Class time will include of a blend of PowerPoint presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and supervised project building. At first glance, segmented woodturning can be quite intimidating, but once you know and understand the process, it can become a very rewarding activity.
