For those who have ever wanted to try their luck at woodburning, this class is a dream come true. Join Julie for her two day intensive workshop where students will obtain a strong foundation in the theory of pyrography and technique. Students with or without prior experience are welcomed and will receive group and individual instruction in surface preparation, burn-tip choice, technique and problem solving. Julie will include demos and instruction in creating realistic appearance of fur, hair, feather, eyes and skin tone. Students will learn safety skills, which tools to use to accomplish various textures, best wood choice and sealants—everything needed in order to produce your own burned masterpiece. By the end of the weekend students will be able to use their new-found skills to create more art and to enhance and embellish turned and functional objects. Handouts will be provided with information on equipment, materials, suppliers, technique reminders and more. Photos from which to work and maple wood will be provided; expect to create a finished work of art that can be framed.
