Barry will show students exactly how to do it! Learn new skills such as proper tool control, sharpening tools, segmenting, casting all kinds of materials and stabilizing your own wood. Several different finishing techniques will be demonstrated and practiced throughout the course, including a very easy CA glue finish. A variety of materials will be used, such as exotic wood, stabilized and dyed wood, acrylics & resins, and even making your own pen blank castings in clear resin or Alumilite. A key to enhancing your pen making skills is to think creatively and that will be discussed daily! Want to make a “Gisi” style segmented pen; Barry will show the students how! By the end of the week, each student will have made a minimum of eight different pens with emphasis on quality of fit and finish. After finishing the pen masterpieces, there will be a discussion on the best way to market your one-of-a-kind works of art!
