Making a wooden hand plane is an amazing experience. The finished plane can compete with top planes on the market. It can be shaped and sized to fit your hands and will greatly expand your understanding of what is important in a well-functioning plane. Planning with a hand-made wooden plane feels different: more connected to the wood and to the process of cutting it. Then there’s the undeniable pride of using a well-functioning tool you made on other projects. Jeff will supply the plane iron and chip-breaker, as well as all the wooden parts to build what is commonly known as a Krenov-style plane. Students will have some latitude in the size of the plane that they want to build.
