More Information on this Workshop

During our nation’s early history, many merchants and businessmen joined the ranks of the wealthy elite and as a show of their success, adorned their homes with elegant pieces of furniture and related decorative arts. The dressing table was one such symbol of wealth and truly exemplifies the sophistication of the Federal period. The table that the students will build in this class has its roots in rural New Hampshire, but Steve has added a few touches to make it a more formal work. While building this piece, students will learn many, not so everyday techniques including, banding construction, bricked and curved drawer fronts, beveled legs and of course, the inlaid ornamentation. The finished project will surely become a family heirloom passed down for generations.
