Description

Yes, students will walk away with a stunning vase on its own dramatic pedestal, but will also learn bronze working skills, new approaches to design, and a powerful, alternative technique for wood. Learn to cut, shape, fuse, and finish bronze. Students will have a choice of several bronze vase designs inspired by simple, surprising Japanese forms. David will demonstrate alternative methods of wood curvature and wood finishing that students will want to try on other projects because of their ease, practicality, and surprising beauty. This class offers fresh experiences in both woodworking and the bronze craft. David will share a few stories from his travels in Japan and discuss its centuries of influence on Modern design.
