These cool stools can be made in many different variations for different purposes: from a workshop stool to kitchen counter height bar stool. The top can be turned solid wood, a bandsawn shape, an upholstered top and even a top that can spin around. The base can be easily modified to appear as Arts and Crafts, Scandinavian style, Art Deco, Nouveau or your very own style. There are a lot of opportunities for hand or machine shaping and students are encouraged to explore different ways of finishing their stools. Students will steam bend the spiral pieces on the first day of class to allow them time to adequately dry for use later in the week. Michael will show students how to bend wood for any project using nothing more than a household tea kettle and a shop made form and compression strap. Drawings will be available to duplicate the construction jigs.
There is an annual, nonrefundable registration fee of $45.
This registration fee is not a part of the class fee and is not deducted from the final balance due. This is the financial binding that locks you into the class and starts the registration process. This fee does not apply to students who only take one single day workshop.
