This five day course covers the basics of incorporating upholstery leather into your designs. On day one, Tim will discuss and demonstrate basic techniques for cutting and manipulating upholstery leather. Students will create a small leather-covered object that will introduce them to some of the basic techniques for successful leather work. During the rest of the week, students will work on a small, more complex object—either a project designed by Tim or one the students have designed themselves. Each day will start with a group discussion about progress, problem solving and to share knowledge. There will be plenty of time for students to work on their projects under Tim’s guidance. By the end of the week, students will have a basic understanding of the techniques needed to incorporate upholstery leather beautifully into any future designs. The prerequisite for this course is an understanding of basic woodworking and joinery.
