In this unique workshop, students will learn all the basic intarsia steps from the beginning to end. By the conclusion of the week each person will have a completed project ready for final finish. The class will be divided into skill level groups with simpler versions of the same pattern for those not familiar with the scroll saw and more complex versions for those with prior intarsia/scroll saw experience. Regardless of one’s skill, everyone will pick up lots of tips and shortcuts for creating beautiful intarsia pieces. Scroll saw basics will be covered for those who need instruction using the saw, while others will start directly into the cutting phase. Kathy will cover wood selection and color choices as well as how to sand and shape each piece to have that perfect 3-D effect. Kathy believes that a pattern should be a starting point which will be a focus of your project. Each intarsia piece is a unique and creative vision fashioned by you–the intarsia artist.
