about this workshop
In this class Thomas will discuss the importance of cartoons (preliminary drawings) for producing accurate and repeatable veneer faces. During the week techniques will be demonstrated for varying types of designs from striking geometrics to patterns of surprising complexity. Students will make trial patterns which can be used for doors, drawer fronts, decorative panels, wall sculptures and other items. Demonstrations will include drawing for genuinely successful projects, bent panel production, core selection, applications for specialty cabinets, glue selection and pressing methods, veneer sanding issues and finishing. Students are encouraged to bring potential project ideas to the class.
