Description

Woodturners face a daunting task with finishing because they make such a range of products, from those that come in contact with food to items for the outdoors and everything in between. During the weekend Alan will combine lecture, demonstration and hands-on experience and explain the breadth of finishing options for a woodturner, as well as specific guidelines for choosing the appropriate finish for particular objects. Matthew will concentrate on coloring techniques which are his specialty. He will discuss his methods for colorings, glazing, tinting and using milk paints to create unbelievable effects on any wood project. There will be several application methods covered, with a chance for students to try their hand at spray finishing and applying finish to the work while both on and off the lathe.
