This class is about making hand mirrors but there is so much more. A hand mirror is a great tool for learning advanced turning skills because it is basically a small platter and a spindle. John will demonstrate how to make cleaner cuts and use the tools more productively. He will demonstrate different ways to use turning tools on all of their cutting surfaces which will help students to take their work to the next level of turning. The mirror can be used as a canvas for a lot of advanced surface design techniques including carving, pyrography, painting, and off center turning. Students will have plenty of time to explore these options. Participants should bring with them any additional tools they want to learn more about including, carving, wood burning, dremels, texturing tools, etc. Bring your imagination and be ready to explore.
