about this workshop
This weekend class is open to woodworkers of all skill levels. CNC experience is helpful but not required. The class is a hands-on workshop providing students an introduction to a variety of methods for designing and machining picture frames and picture frame moldings using a CNC. Randy will cover single and double-sided design and machining, one-piece picture frames, adding 3D carving details, as well as machining techniques for milling long strips of molding on a short machine. Students will design several picture frames during the class and machine at least one picture frame or a length of picture frame molding during the weekend. Most of the class time will be spent designing and machining projects but will include information on a variety of technical and design tips and tricks that students can apply to their future work.
A full version of Vectric VCarve Pro software will be provided to the students for use during the class. Prior experience with this software is helpful, but not required. Students are required to supply and know how to operate a Windows 10 or higher laptop computer and a scroll wheel mouse. Students must have administrative access to their computers, so they can install the full version of the VCarve Pro software at the class.
