about this workshop
The fundamental procedures of running a CNC start with layout and design, and this class is no exception. Designing in CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, within the constraints of our lumber and machines’ capabilities, students will design a variety of boxes. Students will then produce machining operations appropriate per the design and CNC machine in our CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software. This will produce a G-Code file that we will format for the controller software and run through the machine’s interface! Boxes will include details such as hinges, inlay on flat and curved surfaces, etching of mirror, flip milling, and so much more! Students will receive a full license of Rhino 7 CAD software and will use a temporary license of RhinoCAM.
