Description

Coffee tables with glass tops are perfect for showcasing an artistic framework that not only supports the glass but also creates a stunning showpiece. Students will build Adrian’s Apollo Table, which consists of tapered laminated curves, brass details and glass. Adrian will demonstrate how to make bending forms and tapered laminations that will be joined with a precision 4-way miter. Students will also learn how to make curved parts by pattern shaping wood from solid, using a bandsaw and shaper jigs. While waiting for the glue to dry, Adrian will teach students how to transform brass bar stock into elegant gasps that will hold the glass in place. Students will each make their own metal components using woodworking machines, routers and buffers. When students have completed making all the wood parts, they will learn how to connect the curved parts with various joinery options. This will be a fast pace, fun and challenging project that is packed into a six day class. The table size is 16’’ tall by 40’’ diameter.
