Bench Top Bench with Steve Latta May 21 - 22, 2022

about this workshop

Tired of ending a stretch at your bench with strained eyes and an aching back? How about building the perfect bench top bench to bring the work to you? In this class, students will make Steve’s classic “mini-bench,” or bench top bench, that is perfect for joinery, inlay, carving or whatever your specialty may be. It will be a true “Where have you been all my life?” experience when you stand up tall and comfortably tackle the work at hand. The bench will have both an end vise with dogs for clamping as well as a removable, Moxon-style side vise that is excellent for drawer and case joinery. And of course, we’ll look at how you might customize it for your specific needs. This bench will become your primary workspace – guaranteed. And…it’s portable!!! Students will need to know their current bench height to help determine the correct finished height of the bench.
