about this workshop
In this workshop, students will make one or more boxes for valuable possessions, with a personality of their own. Whether your project is a jewelry box, watch box, valet case, pen box or just object d’art; students will be encouraged to explore the possibilities with three-dimensional detailing, surfacing, and layering of the components. Ron will bring many sample boxes to give students an idea of the possibilities they might include in their boxes, whether it be some small to medium sized box or a very complex, larger piece. Instruction is intended to be individualized to the student in meeting their goals utilizing tools which they are already familiar with or interested in acquiring. In addition to basic construction, topics include hinging methods, drawer making, pattern making and simple (non-spray), yet elegant finishing.
