More Information on this Workshop

This workshop is something MASW has wanted to do for quite some time. Susie’s mother had diabetes her entire life. There were times when she would have to give herself three shots a day to control her insulin. Eventually she ended up on dialysis and later was the recipient of a kidney transplant. Susie’s mother passed away in 2018. Gabriel’s wife Jamie also suffers from diabetes and must manage her diet closely. Both our families have directly been affected by this disease. Gabriel, Jamie, Susie and I have decided together to do something about it, you can too! This class is an opportunity for students to select from a handful of Gabriel’s works and he will walk them through step-by-step how to recreate the piece from start to finish. Gabriel’s use of cinematic lighting can make each painting seem like a glimpse into another world and, in this class, students will learn how to use light to create depth, movement, and dimension. Gabriel will teach students how to start with a silhouette and gradually build and wrap light around the characters, making them come to life. Once the paintings are complete, students will learn how to finish, hang and photograph their artwork for reproduction.
