Yoke

Christopher Yoke began wood turning in 2012. He developed an interest in penmanship & calligraphy after finding out his great-great grandfather was a penman and teacher of penmanship during the late 1800’s. Upon signing up for a calligraphy class he was told to purchase a pen holder and came to find out there were only a couple of mass produced pen holders available. He learned in the 1800’s and early 1900’s the craft of making handmade wooden pen holders was an art that had not been practiced in over 100 years. He taught himself how to make those inlaid & custom pen holders and started Yoke Pen Co. in 2013. Since then, he has become the world’s foremost authority on pen holders. His clientele includes professional calligraphers & typographers all over the world, including calligraphy staff members to the White House, The Queen of the United Kingdom, The Pope and many international business and government agencies. He has been teaching since 2014 and has many international students and his YouTube channel has helped usher in a new era of pen makers, bringing back a dead art form.
